I remember speaking to my RLAC (Resident Life Assistant Coordinator) who was my boss the first day after arriving on campus. She explained what the job would require me to do and gave me my first assignment. It wasn't anything big, but I remember still feeling overwhelmed because I was barely still processing the change in environments. I wondered if she would understand where I was coming from if I told her I was only 16, but I never did. Even now, I've always wondered if people would ever understand why I am still not able to keep up with the changing environments around me and work-life balance if they knew how young I was and how difficult it is for someone to navigate through different socio-economic responsibilities and environments at a young age.
